BAYI Inc. is a non-profit organization furthering women’s participation and transformative feminist leadership through capacity building, research, and advocacy activities. In partnership with the UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies, with the support of The Asia Foundation (TAF), Bayi Inc is launching the 2024 Angat Bayi Women's Political Empowerment Fellowship program for elected women leaders and advocates. Bayi Inc. recognizes the fundamental value of women’s political participation in achieving women’s empowerment and national development. It aims to capacitate women leaders to advance feminist leadership, rights-based, democratic, & good governance.
The program will select 20 women leaders nationwide who will attend an intensive and exclusive series of online and in person courses designed and customized specifically for them.
Eligibility:
Who Can Apply?
The Angat Bayi Political Empowerment Fellowship (AB PEF) program is open to women leaders who are passionate about advancing gender equality and fostering positive change in their communities. Here are the specific eligibility criteria:
1. Women in elected office:
- Mayors, Vice Mayors, Councilors, or Board Members in any city, municipality, or province in the Philippines.
- Applicants must be seeking re-election or running for a higher position.
2. Women leaders in development work:
- Women actively engaged in development work with a strong focus on ending gender-based violence.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with and within the government.
Shared Values:
In addition to the above, all applicants must share the following core values:
- Feminist Leadership: Championing gender equality and women's empowerment.
- Inclusive Governance: Fostering inclusive and participatory decision-making processes.
- Rights-Based Approach: Upholding human rights and promoting good governance principles.
- Strong Democracy: Actively defending democratic institutions and processes.
- Active Citizenship: Encouraging and empowering citizen engagement.
Program Commitment:
- Likhang Bayi Proposal: Develop and submit a post-fellowship action plan outlining a concrete initiative to address gender-based violence in your area.
- Replication Commitment: Demonstrate a willingness to share your learnings and potentially replicate the AB PEF program within your local government unit (LGU), community, or network.
- Attendance: Commit to attending and actively participating in all sessions, both in-person and virtual.
